Nauvoo Day 2

Monday morning we had an appointment to do baptisms at the temple at 8. Papa had to be on the wagons but Grammy came with us and the oldest 3. It was fun to be in the Nauvoo temple. Someone has told my mom to ask to see the antiquities hall so we did. It’s just a hall in the temple that has some antiques in it including some old temple clothes that the early pioneers wore when they got their endowments and a sword that belonged to Joseph Smith so that was really cool. Then we went on a carriage ride with our favorite teamster.

Since it was the 4th of July there was a parade in Carthage. So we drove down there and caught the last half of the parade and then went through the jail.

When we got back to Nauvoo we did a few tours. Rook even got to help in the blacksmith shop. Then we went to Sunset on the Mississippi which was a show put on by the performing missionaries. It was really good.
We were staying in Burlington which was about 40 minutes north of Nauvoo. On the way across the Mississippi River the drawbridge was open so we stopped and got this picture of Rook and the beautiful sunset. If you look close you can see the temple in the background.
