Evie did a wax museum where they had to dress up like a famous person and do a speech. I think she nailed it.

16!!!!
What better way to start your 16th birthday than eating where Elvis ate, eating what he ate, followed by going to the studio where he recorded. After we got done with the Arcade Restaurant and Sun studio we went to the Stax museum, Beale street, the Elvis statue, the Memphis Rock and hall of fame, the Peabody hotel to see the ducks, had ourselves some barbecue pizza and then back to our hotel for birthday cheesecake. It was a fun day with this sweet girl.

Soul Food
After the civil rights museum we headed to dinner. Emmy wanted Soul Food. The first place we tried to go was closed but we ended up at Gus’s Famous Chicken and tried Fried Green Tomatoes for the first time. They were yummy.
Lorraine Motel
After we went to Graceland we ran over to the Civil Rights Museum for a little while before it closed. It was a sobering experience but it was really interesting.
Graceland
We told the kids that for their 16th birthday we would take them anywhere in the US. Emmy wanted to go to Graceland. So we flew into Memphis last night and headed to Graceland this morning. It was so much bigger than I thought it would be. We spent about 5 hours there. We toured the mansion, his planes, cars, jumpsuits and records. As part of the package we bought, we also got to put on white gloves and hold Elvis’ belt. We ate lunch at a little restaurant there. It was a fun day.

Evie’s first Temple trip
Evie got to go do baptisms for the first time on the third. It was such a sweet experience and ended on a sweet note with French toast at Kneaders.
We missed Emmy.
