Fun Weekend

We had a really busy weekend. Wyatt, Dawn, Jessi and Laini showed up Thursday evening. Friday morning we took them to the zoo and the kids had lots of fun. Emmy and Jessi spent the day either hugging or holding hands.
Wyatt even talked Emmy into riding a camel. So that was a new zoo experience for her.
Friday night Queen Creek had its first professional rodeo and Wyatt rode so we took the kids to it. I asked Emmy if she knew what a rodeo was and she said no so I guess I am failing as a parent. T.J. and Addy absolutely loved it. I have never seen them so excited about something. Here is Addy ready to go. None of my pictures of Wyatt's ride turned out, but he made a nice ride and was splitting 1st and 2nd when we left.
As a side note, here is Emmy in the same outfit, and same hairdo and about 4 months younger than Addy is right now.
Friday and Saturday was our ward campout and the relief society and the young women were in charge. So even though we didn't go camp, I needed to go out Saturday morning for the breakfast and games. We had a horseless rodeo and I was kind of in charge of the games. I think it turned out really well. Everyone participated and got pretty competitive. Here are Emmy and Jamie doing the gunny sack races.
The keg race was definitely the highlight of the day. Emmy won her age group and got M&M's so she was really excited about that.

Spring Has Sprung

While today is the first official day of spring, we have been enjoying some beautiful weather for a few weeks. A couple of weeks ago we took the kids to the park to ride the train. They all enjoyed it, but T.J. loved it.
Then Emmy had her last ballet class for this session.
Here she is with "Miss Jenny."
We also had another fun day at the zoo. This guy walked up and played right in front of me and Emmy for quite awhile.
Jamie even took a long lunch and came with us so that was fun.

And of course with spring, comes home improvement projects.

This is Not Baseball

T.J. absolutely loves baseball and so we thought he might enjoy it if Jamie took him to a spring training game. So they went today. This is them right before they left.
They waited until after the 7th inning so they could just walk in and hopefully find some good seats. They were right behind home plate, and had great seats but T.J. just kept asking to come home. He told Jamie, "This is not baseball. Sandlot is baseball." It's all in your expectations I guess. But they got ice cream on the way home, so I don't think it was a complete wasted day.

Don't Be a Baby

I have debated writing this blog, because it makes Emmy sound kind of mean. But she really isn't. She is the sweetest girl, she just says things like they are. She loves going to Taylor. I'm not sure if it is because she has more cousins that are her age to play with or if it's because she gets away from T.J. and Addy for awhile. Or if Grammy is just so much nicer than her mom. Or all of the above. I'm not sure. But everytime my parents come to visit Emmy cries to go home with them. And when we go up there, she cries to stay. So we decided it might be good for her to stay until she got homesick. So last Monday and Tuesday my parents came down and took Emmy home with them. I was going up the next Monday so she was going to stay 6 days, which is by far the longest she has ever stayed with them. For the first few days, she didn't act like she missed us at all. At one point I was talking to her on the phone and said, "I miss you." She said, "I don't." On another phone conversation she told me that she loved Grammy more than me. But by the time Monday came around she was ready to come home. My mom said Monday morning she went and got her suitcase and started packing. My mom started giving her a hard time and said, "Aren't you even going to miss me?" Emmy said, "Grammy, don't be baby."
