Rook got his cast off today. He was really curious about the process. He was so excited to get it off, but once it came off, he didn't know what to think. He immediately wanted the brace on it. I think it just felt so weak after having been in the cast for so long. He has to wear the brace for another 10 days and then we should be good to go.

1st Scrimmage
TJ had his first flag football scrimmage game last Saturday. He has never played organized football before but one of Jamie's assistant baseball coaches, coaches a team and talked to him about playing so he decided he wanted to give it a try. He did awesome! He had two interceptions, two touchdowns and a safety. He was fun to watch.

SHE MADE IT!!
It was a long week with Emmy trying out for volleyball. There were 55 girls who tried out and the coach only kept 13. I think we were all a little nervous but she made the team!!! So excited for her. She has worked hard to get here and we can't wait to watch her play.

Science Camp
TJ went to science camp this week. They went to Camp Tontozona which is where ASU has their training camp so he thought that was pretty cool. Last year Emmy went at the end of the school year, but for some reason they decided to go at the beginning of the year this year. He acted like he had a good time. They went on several hikes, including one to a waterfall. They built solar ovens and teepees.

Tough Break
While Jamie and I were on our anniversary trip, the kids were at the park playing with their cousins. Rook had just put sunscreen on his hands and then went on the monkey bars and slipped off. So when we got back into town he was still complaining that it was hurting him so when we got back to the valley we took him to the doctor and it was broken.
So we got a cast, a little attention and went on our way. But when it doesn't heal correctly, then you have to go back for surgery:( Fasting before the surgery was definitely not his favorite thing and he was ready for some food when he came to.

First day of School
The summer went by way to quickly and school started last Thursday. It seems like it gets earlier every year. It was a little different having kids in two schools this year. Junior High starts half an hour later than the elementary school so I thought I would have plenty of time to run over to the school, get the younger kids situated and get back to say goodbye to Emmy. But Rook was having a hard time saying goodbye. So I got back just as she was walking to the bus stop. She seemed so grown up. I may or may not have shed a few tears.
